HIGH PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT CORE VALUES
At UFA, before earning the right to being considered a ‘high performing’ soccer player, we must first develop high performing members of the community. Regardless of the current or future level of a player, the characteristics required to continually improve are consistent. These are at the center of all our training and how we educate players to improve. Our Core Values are: Honesty, Commitment & Perseverance, Excellence, Competitiveness, Accountability, Professionalism, Respect, and Humility
WHAT IS UNITED FUTBOL ACADEMY’S HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM?
The first of its kind in club soccer in the United States of America, United Futbol Academy have invested to develop the High Performance program. The HPD mission is to "develop top fit teams with fewer injuries"
Designed with the developing elite player firmly in mind, the program systematically develops explosive soccer actions in each individual throughout the season.
By integrating current industry leading knowledge of physical preparation strategies, the program applies proven scientific soccer periodization principles to training and competitions combined with tracking athletic ability improvements to minimize injury and improve performance.
This is truly an exciting time to be part of UFA’s High Performance program!
WHY DOES SOCCER NEED HIGH PERFORMANCE DEVELOPMENT?
21st century youth sport in America is facing a tsunami of chronic injuries. Each female player has to negotiate the perils of the maturation process to develop into an elite player. Scientific literature abounds with female players up to 5 times at risk of ACL injury in comparison to their male counterparts. With this in mind, we at UFA are taking action to help our elite developing players now.
HOW DOES HPD WORK?
The HPD team provide a conduit between the science of physical performance enhancement and the art of coaching. The emphasis is on quality of soccer actions – not quantity. It is not simply about doing ‘more stuff’. Anyone can do ‘more stuff’. If doing ‘more stuff’ is the answer, then youth players across the nation would not be facing the issues discussed above.
Taking the game of soccer as the start point, all physical preparation work is carried out with the express intention of developing better explosive actions! This is how we train at the HPD. The recovery process is critical and an education for players (and parents) to ‘earn the right’ too. This is not social progression. The bar is being raised again at UFA as we strive to continue to develop elite level players.
