UFA ANNOUNCES BOYS’ DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY
February 3, 2017 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE US Soccer announced today that United Futbol Academy (UFA) is being awarded Development Academy (DA) status in the U13, U14, U15 and U17 Boys age groups to complement the club’s existing U12 Boys DA program. In October 2016, UFA was also awarded the Girls’ Development Academy program which is to launch in fall 2017. US Soccer states that “New clubs were selected for admission to the Development Academy’s eleventh season based on club leadership and quality of coaching staff, desire to embrace Development Academy philosophy and core values, infrastructure and investment of resources, player production history, player pool depth and geographic location.” There are currently only around 150 clubs in the entire US who meet the standards necessary to be awarded DA status, and with the expansion of our programs into these older age groups, UFA is taking very positive steps to move forward as a club and be at the forefront of player development under the continued guidance of US Soccer. Iggy Moleka, UFA’s Director of Soccer, states “This is fantastic news for our members and staff. Since day one, our goal has been to put together a strong coaching staff that will be able to develop young talent and improve the game of soccer. At UFA, we are extremely excited that our hard work is starting to show at the national level and we are honored to be a part of the Development Academy.” The US Soccer Development Academy has served as the elite male youth player development model for the country since 2007 and has significantly improved the everyday environment for players, coaches and clubs. It was created to provide education, resources, and support to impact everyday club environments in order to develop world-class players.
